Author Topic: jesus stuff. i want more GTT Viano/GSF Paradise-style maps.  (Read 1019 times)

i know V21 will probably be out by the end of the year.. but someone should really make more maps like those two. city maps with good roads that can fit any car in one lane of the roads, and have open pre-made houses that make building homes faster and funner. problem with Viano is that its too small and there's alignment problems with windows and floors of the buildings. Paradise has too rough of terrain and the houses get boring since alot are the same. why doesnt someone make more types of these maps?

You know, paradise comes with a slate version. If you dont like the houses, build them.

Because it takes a long time to make highly detailed interior models in the horrid abomination that is Torque Constructor.

as kompressor said, maps like this can be made out of large, 64x64 chunks of the map converted to .blb with custom collision.

Haha

HAH

I'd looooove to see this quote

There are already at least a few of these maps, why do you need more? You can't have possibly used these to their full potential.

The ones we have a huge. They don't have many detailed building interiors because it would be laggy and hard to design to begin with.

I think you've made the best point though Aes. The maps would take hours, if not days / weeks to complete. Its not worth it since v21 is on its way.

don't really take long, but like extrude said it's really not fullfilling with how abhorrent TC is. Once you use tools that err, work it's hard to go back.

Interiors are problematic in general. Parts of the map would have collision issues, lighting issues, some textures may have been sized incorrectly, parts may not be aligned to the brick grid, etc. Making maps like that is a process that usually ends up in a jumbled mess of broken models and an infuriated mapper.

DIF interiors cause hardly any lag.

my ass, viano by antares is smaller than almost all of GSF's maps but it lags to hell

if you get any sort of lag in blockland, you need a new computer. i've never had any issues with viano or anything else.

I have a computer that can max out Crysis and I lag on all of Antares's tardis maps.

evidentally the game hates you as much as the community

Here you go extrude

You read the quote wrong. He said having chunks of buildings as bricks, not the map.
