People take algebra in 8th grade where I live, and that's what is normal (accelerated people take geometry).

o_o
you just loving blew my mind
guess I'll figure out how to actually solve it later
In this case, just replace all the letters with (1) and you get only addition and subtraction, and yes they're all 1.

The pros don't use addition/subtraction or substitution, we use the matrix method.

what grade are you in...?
taking algebra 2 online, going into sophomore year
looks like Algebra I, 9th grade
no

I did take algebra 1 in 8th grade lol
took geometry last year
taking this now so I can move forward into precalc

1 + 2 + 1 = 4

4 - 3 = 1

2 + 10 = 12

Surely you can just see that without working anything out.
Oh well.

Oh my god, you just taught me how to do algerbra, my teachers kept having me do a program called "Carniege" last year and refused to teach me Algerbra until I finished it. (I never did) forget you mathmatical academic cricilum.

I learned this in 7th grade.

Here's how you solve it: (wall of text)
x+2y+z=4
4y-3z=1
2y+10z=12

Step 1. Isolate variables
(math stuff here from second equation)
x=4-z-2y
y=(3z+1)/4
z=-1/3+4/3y

Step 2. Substitute into other equation to solve a variable
Let's solve z, shall we?
2y+10z=12
substitute in y
2((3z+1)/4)+10z=12
1.5z+10z+.5=12
isolate Z
11.5z=11.5
divide by 11.5 to get
z=1

Step 3. Substitute 1 for z to solve other variables
y=(3z+1)/4
y=4/4
y=1

x=4-z-2y
x=4-1-2
x=1

Solution is (1,1,1)!

forget I legitimately forgot how to do that stuff

You're not alone ;;

Wtf this is like Algebra 1, no way you're in Algebra 2 doing this nursery school crap.

Three variable equations are definitely Algebra 1.
