whatever you do don't play the zombie servers

avoid the zombie servers unless told to go to a zombie servers

I usually just go to sandbox servers and build stuff. That elevator thing is pretty fun too.

also are you playing right now?

PLAY TTT WITHOUT CSS
LIKE A MAN
(i do and i wouldnt recommend it. buy css)

TTT is meh imo. This guy randomly kills me because I "teleported" although I just walked up behind you.
then report him to an admin and get him banned, killing without solid evidence is slayable/bannable on respectable ttt servers

in any case, it seems CSS is required to make pretty much anything work without having a bunch of ERRORS running around blasting each other with ERRORS in the land purple-black checkers
:Y
stupid file dependencies

decided to get the beta for 13, downloading it now \o/

Get a CSS Content Addon.  What this is, is it lets you see the textures and models without having to actually play the game.  You basically get a fix for the black-purple checkers, but you don't actually get to play CSS.  This is not piracy.

Yes it is.  People still spent time on that content.

most game resources are still publicly available on the web; for example, most of the TF2 HWM models have been online for forever. of course, it's F2P now, but it wasn't at the time. this is the same principle.
