I totally forgot, can an external light (but not on a brick shared with an internal wall) make light inside a closed box?

Will lights still go through bricks?

Depends.

Aside from this I don't think it's been answered.

What on Earth kind of scenario would it "depend" on? lol

if the bricks are transparent?

if the bricks are transparent?
Well this would be valid, of course, but he made it sound like sometimes lights would still go bricks depending on some kind of condition

Brick lights still go through, sun doesn't is what kompressor posted at one point iirc.

When raycasting is off?

Whether or not they could figure out how to efficiently have brick lights cast shadows.

What about a way to create a false or second sun? I can imagine some builds where complete darkness in an enclosed space would be helpful, while still keeping the illusion of daylight out in the open

Same reason two suns probably isn't happening.  At one point, Kompressor said shadowcasting's so inefficient that they decided only a single light source (the sun) should cast shadows.

noo does that mean brick-based lights wont cast shadows?

nooo
