help me please

i've always had a life dream of playing a space game where you control a person and i want to get like a group of 2-3-4 people and fly a space ship with turrets and places in the ship where people can just do whatever and then land on planets and do adventures with them

kind of like how star wars; galaxies was with the larger ships.

are there any games like this?

Evochron Mercenary is pretty good, I don't know if that fits you purposes, but you get a LOT of freedom in that game.
