Would definitely recommend this game.
When I first saw it a while back, I thought it looked boring too; the gameplay looked meh.

When I got it with the humble bundle, I figured I might at well try it out. Long story short: neat art, great story, fantastic soundtrack, and the button-mashing gameplay is made up for the with how fun and interesting the weapons are.
