Honestly, I would never marry anyone at all. I don't feel the need to make it legal, it's all nothing but a headache if you want to split up afterwards.

Gay marriage sure, as long as they pay taxes like man and woman couples.

I'm more of a gay lefts kind of person...
:cookieMonster:

I personally think its wrong, but I have nothing against gay people doing their own things (free country blah blah)

-snip-
I have an Atheistic friend and we talked about this. I told him that I thought gay marriage should be allowed and this was basically his response.

i think gay people are gay
Gay people aren't gay.
Homoloveuals are gay.

Marriage is historically a religious institution. While many ancient cultures allowed gay love, not one of them allowed gay marriage.

Now we have civil unions, which by all account make both partners liable for either's debt and wealth, as does marriage, but the biggest complaint against civil unions is the lack of tax benefits that heteroloveual couples receive.

It's more than a little arrogant for a homoloveual couple to believe that they're entitled to the same financial aid, when that financial aid is put in place to encourage the american family system that sociologists believe produce the most productive children; one working parent, one parent at home raising the children. The benefits also encourage reproduction, which is something that gay couples are biologically incapable of and lesbian couples only through expensive medical procedures/

To reiterate, tax benefits are given to heteroloveual couples to get them to have children, and further tax benefits are given to family units with only one working parent.

The argument has been made that gay couples can still adopt, and therefor are entitled to the same benefits. However, there are separate tax incentives for raising adopted children that homoloveuals are still entitled to.

There's no reason to blaspheme and piss off every major religious group in the world in the name of "equality." You can't just ask the majority population of the world to do away with thousands of years of tradition because you want a religion to recognize the legitimacy of your marriage. Civil unions are fine.
I now have to repeat myself.
Productivity and contribution towards society and childbirth are not mutually exclusive. Most people are stuffty parents, and gay people can adopt anyway.
If it wasn't for a certain productive gay man by the name of Alan Turing, you wouldn't be on this website right now.
Stop trying to pretend that people who can have children are better than those who can't.
You're not going to stop gay people from being gay by making up stupid stuff like this.
Also, separation of church and state. I don't give a forget what the church thinks, because that's not allowed to control government.
Finally, there are MANY christian churches who support gay marriage. Don't generalize.

EDIT: Forgot something. Civil unions don't provide the same benefits as marriage does, and most of the benefits aren't even related to children. It's not going to loving ruin the institution of marriage. So apparently Kim Kardashian's allowed to have a 72-hour marriage, but an intelligent gay couple can't get married and adopt children together because they're gay and/or it's ruining the institution? forget off.
Gay people aren't gay.
Homoloveuals are gay.
what the actual forget
