Author Topic: Greed - A Short Blockland Film  (Read 2094 times)

Hey guys, just finished editing this short film that Flush, Turnip, and I created. Sorry if it is a tad confusing but I tried to focus on building a story without the use of Microsoft Sam voices :I
(sorry for a pagestretch)

Feel free to rate, etc. Constructive criticism is always welcome. Most importantly, enjoy!

incredible, nice use of effects, but i had trouble following the story
9/10

Cool. although, the widescreen was too thick and bugged me a little. but other then that,
9/10

I felt like I was squinting.

The breathing at 0:58 was startling and disconnected, especially given the next scene. If you aren't going to have any voices, you probably shouldn't have scenes of people talking.

Now in super HD widescreen, so wide you can barely see the video!  No, but really this is fantastic for a silent movie feel but I understand the scenes with people talking was supposed to infer from the surroundings so you would realize what they are talking about.  It is really well done but the breathing made me legitimately jump.  I did not expect that.

You had some clear difficulty in defining the setting (some sort of ice cave that the character(s??) are there for some reason?), giving a sense of space and time, portraying a story (they need to go to this ice cave for something?) and portraying just what was going on (so they're arguing over a red lantern?).

For a movie without voices, you need, need, need to be good at those. Your camera angles didn't frame the shots well and were largely confusing. The first person camera gets old really fast too but the way you simulated desperate running was well done.

What I got from the video said that they were going on a sort of treasure hunt and found that red lantern, which had some sort of significant value, and they became "greed"y and fought for it. You might be right about some things, but I thought it was very well done

why is the video so tiny?

No solid story 6/10 for use of bow

I thought it was the effect of them shaking in the cold.

Thanks for the opinions, guys. It really helps :D

I really liked it, but you might want to throw this back into Sony Vegas or whatever you use and lower that letterbox, it was really annoying, but other than that great use of effects, the story was a bit confusing but it was cool for the imagination, and the bow made things really vintage.

Bumpitty :3

Seeing the growing success and moderate approval of THIS short film, maybe an 8 minute film could come in the future?

It's...artsy. I didn't get it but it was pretty?
