i remember the first computer i ever used

it was my dads old windows 98 desktop. used to run all sorts of old games on it. i loved using that thing as a kid. it could lag at times but i still loved using it. it sounded like a typewriter and had a high pitched electrical hum whenever it was on that always brings back nostalgia whenever i turn it on (yes, it still works, and decently too, i use it to play all my old games that dont work on the regular pcs anymore)

at school at that time i would try to use the mac laptops they had at school but they were cumbersome and the only thing close to a game they were capable of running was marble blast on minimum settings. i still thought they were cool but of course i was just a kid so i didn't really understand how bad they really were

Mac is a repackaging of Linux with stuff added on top.
i've always seen it as being like a dumbed-down, idiot-proofed version of windows made for people who don't know how to use a real computer or are so gullible they believe every lie apple says.

Yeah, lol, it's like, why would I pay for an update for my os?

The difference is you're getting more bang for your buck with every new version.  In this case, Windows 8 has a stuffload more new features for PC users than Mountain Lion did to OS X.

It's like one of those distros you have to pay out the ass for

well moving from version 7 to 8 is worth software to buy.

but mac moving from version 10.1 to 10.2 to 10.3 and so on... and charge each time lol...
and even then they will charge the normal 100s of dollars for the real v11

its a scam lol

apple relies on stupid people to buy their computers. they overcharge you for something that is so terrible and incompatible with so many programs, software and games and try to coerce you into paying massive sums of money just for a couple of minor updates that (probably) dont really add anything useful. its outright theft.

however i would dare to say that apple probably makes most of their money by selling crap to kids. they use stupid children, who spend their days listening to the latest pop music and watching disney channel and nickolodeon all day, to beg their parents to pay tons of money for a bunch of songs on the stupid itunes service, so that apple can make even more money. then the kiddies eventually get their own ipods, iphones, macbook pros, and ipads to complete their inventory of crappy overpriced apple gadgets. and all by age 13. i know this to be true.

my sister fits this whole apple-fanatic stereotype far too well. she spends her day listening to stupid music like taylor swift, miley cyrus, katy perry and demi lovato, watches icarly and wizards of waverly place on tv, and then wastes the remainder of her day creating and discussing drama with her equally stupid apple fan-friends over skype, in addition to browsing youtube and icanhascheezburger watching trampoline accidents and looking at stupid cat memes. its to be expected of course. she is only 12.

Windows 8 is pretty comparable to Lion, and way more expensive (at standard pricing).

Proof?

Also, what is up with this thread anyway?  Why are you guys saying Apple is some sort of scam company?  Have you owned an Apple product in your life, or are you just mindlessly whining because others are?

what do you mean proof. the OP has a link to the incremental update they are charging for.

you think im just making it up? lol

Where did you get your "MAC OS 11 WILL BE $100+!" thing?

Where did you get your "MAC OS 11 WILL BE $100+!" thing?

charging for patches is the scam.

The point of the "patches" are that they ARE the new versions.  I'm pretty sure it still gets free patches much like any other OS.

Funny that there is drama about the new mac version on here because the mac user on the Starcraft 2 forums are upset at blizzard for droping 10.5.8 users. Anyway the so called Macroni n' cheesetosh with no problems is just a overpriced scam.

A PC is like a fast motorcyle that can come cheap and preform well if you know what you are doing. Plus you can maintain it your self and there are many mechanics out there who can fix it.

The mac is basically a small tricycle that is overpriced and has training wheels for your training wheels. You cannot take care of it and if you do anything to it, you void the warranty. Also you are forced to buy new wheels every month. If it breaks you have to buy a new one or take it to the one and only mechanic(apple).

Apple - the only company that names their computers after both fruit and animals.

Or if you're buying a laptop, everything is cheap stuff on the Windows side.

Never liked anything apple.
What can you do, though?
People will continue to bloat their company.
