Author Topic: SMOD: Tactical Delta 5.56 / 6 (HL2 Mod)  (Read 10343 times)

SMOD: Tactical is a mod for HL2 / Counter Strike. It has some very interesting game mechanics.

It's a variation of SMOD, which is a rather cheesy technical upgrade for HL2. Tactical started out as a weapons pack, and eventually turned into it's own sub mod. It's main focus is to provide a kind of lone-wolf tactical challenging gameplay. It's meant to be as realistic as they could make it whilst still being fun to play as a hl2 source engine mod. It is meant to make HL2 less of a cakewalk, but it also comes with it's own fun and interesting missions.

The game has a reduced hud, no crosshairs, and a health regeneration system that can be toggled. Freeaim is also present, so it is important to either aim down the sights or use a crosshair for accurate fire.

All weapons have bullet entry / ironsights and a fitting stopping force.

The AI is much more aggressive, often flanking and suppressing, along with using grenades to flush the player from cover.

The project has been abandoned but is still available for download.

Here's a leak for Delta 6, apparently:

Here's the Moddb for 5.56

I found that the difficulty was kinda, reduced? in delta 6? Maybe it's just because they hadn't finished it. In 5.56, the enemies seemed to be much more challenging. Must be unfinished AI / bad mapping.

The game has a very broad range of weaponry, and it has very interesting mechanics. Scopes actually zoom in, you can kick, bullet time, etc. I found that the campaign and the included missions were much more difficult and exciting with this mod.

5.56 / 6

There's a difference between the two games.
Delta 6 has some really interesting maps and really neat weapons, but the AI is unfinished and lacks challenge on any difficulty lower than hardcore.

Delta 5.56 doesn't have the graphics and weapons Delta 6 has, but it's AI is far superior.

wow mw3 copy -_-!!!!!!!!

bbut 5.556 was out befor!!

Is there bullet time/slow motion?

Is there bullet time/slow motion?
Yes. It's disabled in medium - high realism settings.

Maybe it was just the custom larger blood decals I was using for hilarious amounts of gore, but 5.56 crashed every 15 minutes.

So far, I haven't had any crashes on the Delta 6 leak.

I so so wish they had continued the project, it's possibly one of the best out there.

5.56

oh wow SUCH A GREAT PUN

I wish it had multiplayer :(

Yeah that exactly what I thought.
Didn't think it was worth mentioning though.

Apparently they worked on it at some point, but it was so bug ridden it eventually just collapsed, as did the rest of smod.

I think there's still a way to force it.

Take a look at this:

Maybe someone can get it to work. It doesn't appear to be related to tactical, though.

i was going  to say something, but i thought a mw3 joke would be better.

Holy stuff, look what I just found in delta 6:
Quote
SMOD (as of 40a) allows it's players to code in up to 30 new weapons that go on top of SMOD's already extensive arsenal. A wide variety of weapons are possible with the features in the custom weapon script, although somewhat limited when in comes to unconventional weapons.

This is a re-written version of the same guide on the SMOD: Tactical forums with more information and better formatting and is primarily intended for players who have at least a small understanding of SMOD's code. This is not intended as a walkthrough to make a custom weapon, but to shed light on what each function does. I recommend you only use this as a reference as it is not in a very script-friendly format.

This is new.
