Would it be possible to have multiple skyboxes? It would look amazing if we could fade between skyboxes with the day cycles.

For example you could have two skyboxes: one day skybox with clouds and blue sky and another with just stars. You could make the day cycle fade the skybox to the night one as the sun goes below the horizon. I would say that the ideal amount of skyboxes would be 4. Sunrise, day, sunset, and night. You could do it with just three but we can't rotate the skybox.

The fading would probably change the alpha of the first skybox while the second one is fully opaque but somehow behind the first one.

Oh that seems like a nice idea.
Love it.

I'm not going to let this slip away until someone gives me a reason why this isn't a good idea.

While we're at the topic of it, why not have a moon appear at night?
It would make light, except much less light than the sun.

Genius. Two sun flares at opposite sides. Although the shadows could prove troublesome. Could it be possible to disable the shadow casting of the first sun after it passes horizon and enable the shadow casting of the second one once it rises above the horizon? The second sun (flare) doesn't really need to cast shadows but it would be really neat.

I suppose the sun could teleport to the opposite side of slate once it goes under the horizon and change its flare to look like a moon. (along with making the light cast much darker and the sky changing)

We already somewhat have this. The skybox color's fade and darken when it becomes night - but I support this. We need better default skyboxes. A majority of them have a sun drawn into them.

And it's not as nearly as much fun as having multiple skyboxes.

Can't it be done like MC?

Animating a skybox is probably harder than making two fade into eachother.

Page 6? Nope. I like my idea.

I absolutely do want this.
