Author Topic: Off-Topic Rule: Intentional De-Railing  (Read 819 times)

Intentional De-Railing occurs when 1 or more users knowingly sends a topic off of its' original subject. The title is pretty much self explanatory. I'm sick of reading about a topic that I clicked, and ending up reading a flame-war from a bunch of un-related users. I don't mean debates, or criticism. I mean legitly off-topic de-rails.

Example:
-Discussion - Drama

Simple Terms:
People other than the OP De-Railing topics.

You can already buy you way off bans. It just happens to cost $20.

If you get banned, you get banned. You can't forget whose fault that would be. I would also maybe suggest a 3-Day ban at first as a result of de-railing a topic.

real men put it on their start menu because Windows 8 Metro takes away that button

yup i am sick of people derailing threads

and trains

I dislike this idea (shocker, I know). No one is going to complain if you discuss what the thread is "actually" about, even post-derailment.

I love how this thread got de-railed by the first post.

This idea also goes against how conversations work. I've never talked to someone for more than 15 minutes about the exact same subject with no change.

if you're thinking about what I think you're thinking about, that wasn't even intentional

about the actual rule: it's okay. intentionally changing the subject of a thread for whatever reason is probably covered under "spam," though. this would clarify it a bit, and probably lead to some proper repercussions, and eventually prevent it from occurring. but you have to understand the difference between intention and something that just happens

That's my issue with it. Too hard to tell when it's intentional and when people just have ADHD and can't focus.
