Yes sometimes it is very one-sided. Skial is the only group I know that hosts it, and they used to do class wars on a map rotation including gold rush, hong kong, etc. and it was incredibly fun that way. Then they limited to only dustbowl which is probably the most idiotic decision. But sometimes the matchup is sort of even and it's fun. It's also super easy to get achievements on class wars because the scenarios that play out are so ridiculous.

Honestly, in TF2 the best teacher is playing yourself, though I get why you may want a demonstration of techniques.

If it helps, then try this out, as it appears to be more straightforward than Mr. Paladin's.

imo backstabbing is a pretty hard thing to do for me, and with your eternal reward, it could be a disaster..

backstabbing is easy all you have to do is have an deep socially unacceptable understanding of the maps and routes of players and your all set

how to backstab.

1. disguise.

2. run to the back of the map, preferably near other teams' spawn. don't get caught.

3. make sure there is no one behind you when you sneak up to someone to backstab them.

4. backstab. all you have to do is point and click.

5. cloak or just yolo it when you can't kill them with a backstab for whatever reason.

6. repeat.

I'm half assing this tutorial. of course there are different playstyles for spy.

the proficiency you can achieve as spy relies heavily on how much self-respect you're willing to give up

level 1: learn how to abuse the game's awful hitboxes and server latency to get "trickstabs"
level 2: become efficient with the ambassador so you can instantly cripple anyone who might be a threat to you
level 3: equip the dead ringer + spycicle so you no longer have to worry about that pesky "stealth" mechanic

the big earner is ok in some situations. I like to use the spy cicle because I like backstabbing a bunch of people consecutively and a lot of the time, a pyro is present so it comes in handy.

but if you like back stabbing people consecutively wouldnt getting lit on fire counteract that because your knife evaporates

if it werent the spycicle, it would get countered anyways by dying.

after losing the knife, you can just run and wait for the knife to recharge or ambassador the stuff outta the pyro

it turns the pyro from a hard counter to a minor inconvenience
