remember that you can get every item in the game (expect hats and crate exclusives i guess) from drops. literally no reason to buy a weapon for 5 bucks when you can get it for free just by playing/trading

in 5 years of playing i've only gotten 2 hat drops.

Hat drops are a thing still!? The last hat drop I got was 5 or 6 years ago and it was a Demoman's Fro that I traded for something I forgot, then I bashed my head into my desk when I discovered that it would become a vintage item.

On a side note, recently I bought the Steam Link + Controller bundle and decided to try TF2 with the steam controller.

Here are my impressions:
1.Reading chat is impossible, let alone typing (but typing in chat is possible)
2.Playing TF2 with a steam controller is super strange, but you get used to it.
3.After a day of getting used to the steam controller and its infinite configurability you will still play poorly with the steam controller.
4.If Valve wants steam machines to become successful TF2 (And other games) need a Big Picture mode where the whole UI is re-adjusted to make it better for a big screen.
5.Rocket Jumping is possible with the steam controller!? Well yes its awkward but possible.
6.Spy and Engineer are harder classes to play because of their additional menus.

Overall, its not that bad, I still prefer Keyboard and mouse but the steam controller is definitely and improvement against the horror that was TF2 with a 360/ONE Controller, I think with the right keybindings, and once you get past the learning curve TF2 will be as playable on the Steam Controller as it is using Keyboard and Mouse.

If you guys have cash to spare and want to try something new that strange to use, then the steam controller is for you.
If you want a streaming powerhouse that works for more than just games (ANYTHING ON THE DESKTOP)but is crippled due to being based on linux (Wireless Xbox One controller adapter does NOT WORK because of this, wired will though)then the steam link is for you (but like I said its linux based and if you don't have a steam controller be aware other controllers will not be able to interact with the desktop very well)

No seriously playing TF2 with the steam controller is kind of fun, awkward fun, but its fun, the best way to describe it is it makes you feel like if your new to TF2 again, just don't expect to get many kills.

Not anymore, Valve stopped hat drops. I only got one in like, 4-5 years.
