Suggestion for Forum: Changeable username.

So, you would have a changeable visible name and you would log in with your username. So say you changed your name in Blockland, and you want it the same on the forums. You would change your visible name, and on all posts and stuff, your visible name would be shown, unless you look at the person's profile.

This already exists, sort of. I log in with a different name than Wynd_Fox because Baddy changed my name.

Not sure this could be implemented, and it would be difficult keeping track.
People could also impersonate others, and you wouldn't know that x was y all along unless you looked at their profile.

Or if visible names aren't too possible/easy, then why not we could change our usernames like changing our passes?

Most likely because of impersonation issues.
Like, for example, if x had a vendetta against a certain person (let's call him Bob), they could save Bob's avatar, and change their name to Bob, then do a bunch of stuff that damages Bob's reputation.
I dunno that's what I'm seeing.

It says Wynd_Fox because that's what he changed it to. There's already support for this in the forum software. Not sure if there's support for users changing their own names, but I suspect there is.

could make it so it prevents from someone having the same name as someone else until it is changed and the person's username could also have an BL_ID tracking system (if someones ID was 123123123 Bob would be linked to 123123123 unless the name isn't his anymore).

Your right. Also look what I found for maybe visible names in the "Account Related Setting".

Username:                                   padmedog
Name:                                          padmedog <--- THIS
This is the displayed name that people will see.

From what I've seen most forums don't let you change your name willy-nilly.

If it really bothers you, I'm sure you could just register a new account under a new name and use the same key.

Already tried, can't use the same key.

As reasonable as that sounds phflack (also considering forum profiles have IDs now) I doubt Badspot will ever change it.
