What is Breaking Bad?
This is the "megathread" of sorts for the show Breaking Bad. Currently in its fifth season, Breaking Bad is about a high school chemistry teacher (Walter White) who is diagnosed with lung cancer. In order to provide for his family, Walt teams up with a former student (Jesse Pinkman) to manufacture methamphetamine (or meth for short). It's an engaging series that manages to tie some humorous points in with an otherwise dramatic plot and premise.



Where can I watch it?
The show airs on AMC, and season five opened on July 15th, 2012. The second part of season five is scheduled to show in summer of 2013. By far the best place to watch the show in its entirety is on Netflix.


So what is this thread for?
The purpose of this thread is to discuss the show. If you haven't watched it yet, I would recommend refraining from reading what people post here if you hate spoilers (and obviously I can't guarantee that people won't spoil stuff). There have been other topics on this show in the past, but all of those have sort of faded away. I'm hoping that this topic can stay alive for quite some time. There's quite a bit to discuss about this show, and I believe that this is a community that would enjoy this show. So without further delay, welcome to the Breaking Bad megathread.

This show.. is the only mainstream show I watch nowadays (I'm not a hipster but you know what I mean TV sucks now)

Ahhh you had told me this. If they themselves refuse to watch an episode, you could tell them that although the content is rather...mature, it's actually a very good deterrent for keeping away from hard drugs. I'm assuming that's what they're concerned about. It's only a TV show, and I'd say it does a good job of projecting the harsh realities of the drug world.

However, by season 2, the focus is no longer "HOLY stuff HE'S COOKING METH OMG METH WUT LAWS ARE BEING BROKEN, YO" and it turns into more..."Okay, Walt is doing this for his family. But there's this struggle, and this struggle, and how will he get by? And what sort of interaction will occur next between all the characters?"...you know waht I mean? Hopefully that helps.

And I almost forgot to mention, I'm on season 3 right now. Episode 8.
