so apparently XBL is doing this thing
for a new version of the xbox live dashboard and stuff
and it includes "Internet Explorer on Xbox," "Recommendations," and "Pins for quick access to your favorite apps and content"
it's public, so sign up for it and you (hopefully) get in
like the Gmod 13 beta, there will be a limited number of participants

I honestly think it's about time
the PS3's had a browser since it came out
or at least, very soon after it came out

I still think it's even more "about time" for them to actually come out with a new console, though
rather than just a bunch of software updates and one cosmetically different console

if they didn't want people to know about the beta, I'm sure it wouldn't have been in an ad on the front page of the dashboard
