I think it would be great if shadows recolored according to transparent bricks light went through. Basically a red transparent brick would cast a red shadow. It would also be colored according to the alpha of the brick, seeing as some bricks have different alpha values. This would be multiplied by the default shadow colors. This would add a lot more lighting options when building.

why not get everyone support for shadows/shaders before we do anything special with them.

They work fine for me. Even with a bottle necked GPU.

Well there's the problem.

Seriously, why should special features and stuff be added for shadows and shaders before all the bugs and everything are worked out? Seems a bit backwards, don't you think?

Since the people that can run shaders out number the people that can't they shouldn't be penalized because people don't want to spend $40 on a Nvidia or AMD card.

i have no money at all, i can't buy a new "nvidia or amd card" if i wanted to

I'm sure you'll be able to fish one out of a dumpster somewhere or find a charity willing to give you one.

Badspot will only make shaders work for as many people possible. He can't magically make your hardware better, the best he can do is a workaround so your sub-par card (or lack thereof) will possibly have a chance of being able to run shaders.

That being said, this appears to be a relatively simple thing to do, I myself have wanted this specific feature since I saw the first shader dev video.

oh god, my sides!

I have no problems with my AMD card. In this case I can run Blockland on max settings, with Max shaders and get a stable ~70FPS. Though that extra framerate count doesn't matter since I enable Vsync so my card doesn't need to repeat processes. Very High and Max aren't even that much of a leap in quality, so I stick with High. Over 100FPS.

I'm not seeing the problem.
