Author Topic: Blockland on Steam Greenlight?  (Read 9862 times)

I disagree with this idea, Blockland would have more COD playing cigarettes.

Well, how I see it is more players are gonna buy Blockland. When it hits 45k badspot and the other developers need to plan ahead or atleast get ready for what's about to come.

I wish badspot would post his opinion on the matter :P

it'll have more people in general

which also means it'll have more reasonable, competent, intelligent people who want to build with blocks and enjoy other block-building peoples' company

The more people = more creativity = more scripts for me to use while paying nothing = me feeling good = awsomeness.

Don't you have to do a bunch of complex crap to get add ons for G-mod?  Way more complex than Blockland?  Tons of steam players play Gmod, I'm pretty sure the fact that you have to go into the games files to install add-ons is not a problem.

The only problems that Blockland would have with Steam are things Badspot knows more about than we do.  Maybe he would be able to update the game fine if it was with steam, maybe it'd be extremely hard for him.  Really only he would know.

Being on Steam also limits most stuff you can do with the game. (and will probably kill RTB)

What, specifically, does Steam prevent you from doing? And so what if it replaces RtB? Ephialtes will get some free time, and no longer have to pay for a server.

Blockland on Steam isn't going to happen anytime soon. We need to get to a stable version first.

Putting a game on Steam doesn't make the game any worse. Just look at the thousands of games on Steam.

Did you even notice what Valve did to Left 4 Dead 2 yesterday?
The VPK files weren't even digitally signed, and you're complaining that Blockland would need to have a "stable" version? It's perfectly stable for me (although I'm a power user and most people having these issues are morons.)

Sticking by this every time I see someone talk about how this would bring more idiots to the game:
It's pretty pathetic how the naysayers are scraping together excuses from some fantasy world they live in where they are a shining beacon of intelligence and anyone who commits the unspeakable act of joining the game after them has brain damage.
Seriously, the people concerned about having more idiots need to take a step back and examine themselves first.

I don't know about Blockland being available on steam. It could be good, it could be bad. I just want the steam menu to be accessible in Blockland like it is in other games.

I think this was addressed in a previous thread, but would buying Blockland enable non-free features of Steam?

add it as a non-steam game

buying any steam game at all or even activating a key from a game on steam will enable non-free features
