Author Topic: Marijuana Legalization  (Read 8338 times)

There's no doubt that if someone attempts to operate a vehicle while high on Marijuana, it's very likely they're,

well,

not going to be very good at it. I don't want to end up in the way of him when I'm driving to work or Christmas shopping for my mom.
DUI covers that.

would you rather them drive?
wtf.
having a nice walk and a smoke clears the mind and is refreshing and helps you get back on track.
There's no need to get all defensive, Kilser, I'm not bashing weed. Readpls:

It is like public intoxication.
It is illegal.

If they legalized it most likely they would add a public smoking law of some sort.

ok, and then we might as well have tobacco parks,
hookah parks.
Sure, why not. Quite honestly I don't want to be breathing in anyone's second hand tobacco smoke either.

DUI covers that.
Yeah, so Alcohol already causes accidents. Why should we increase the amount of possible accidents, just because accidents happen anyway?

It's like at school, they block research sites, but you can get to it on your phone anyway. Does that mean that schools should just unblock all research sites?

I'm saying that allowing smoking in public places will increase the local smoke in those places. How can you argue with that?

Yes the amount of smoke will increase. Will it be any more deadly than the amount of smoke that is output by coal each day? No. Why the forget should you even care? Your life is being shortened by coal, not pot.

On a personal note, I drive better when high. What makes you think people who drive high are any safer than people who drive drunk?

Someone on this thread has brains. I am impressed.
If you get pulled over and you are high you go to jail. Problem solved.

What's your point here?

Alcohol causes accidents, yes, but if people use it responsibly, then it won't forget stuff up. Same with weed.

Drinking and driving is far harder to catch then smoking and driving.

First off the person would have a cigarette and you would probably see smoke coming from the windows etc.

Both are pretty easy to catch though.
Just people swerving.

People who usually get into car accidents with drunk drivers usually didn't see the drunk driver coming from ahead, etc or they got hit from behind.

Plus marijuana makes you more relaxed than necessarily dizzy like drinking does.
When you drink you aren't necessarily relaxed, you are just falling down and stuff.

Jesus.

I dunno, I've never read an article explaining how MJ makes it easier to drive. It's only ever been the opposite.

I don't see how anyone could possibly do a stressful task such as driving while high. Maybe on some little roads where there isn't much traffic, but my dad drives to work every day on a congested highway and all the cars go at about 70mph. It takes a serious level of concentration to do that, and I really don't want my dad to get killed in a fiery car wreck because some guy thought he could concentrate better while intoxicated on marijuana.

Ugh! You're impenetrable. Why am I even trying?

Smoke of all kinds is bad. Got it? No one goes around burning coal at a park. In your ideal world, people would go around smoking weed at parks. People at the park would get extra smoke in their air. In my ideal world, people would smoke weed and cigarettes at home, and the park goers would only get a tiny bit of the smoke, instead of a relatively large amount. You seem to think that if something is bad, we should make it worse. That makes no sense.
This has nothing to do with coal. I'm not saying my idea is any better for the environment, because, no one is going to smoke enough to affect the environment. They can affect people within 25 feet of them, though.

It would help our economy and would stop a lot of people from illegally selling marijuana off the streets and just buy it from markets.
Same thing happened a long ass time ago when people began to make moonshine and then they decided to legalize beer and the economy had a huge jump.

Idiots will choose to drive yes, but we have police officers who patrol all night and day for these types of things.
I would know, my dad is a police lieutenant and he has seen some crazy stuff out in the streets.
Trust me, they catch thousands of guys who do these types of things.
You cannot catch them all though.

They made the breathalyzer I thought? It detects alcohol content in the blood from the lungs.
Is there some sort of weed test besides looking at someone who is totally chink? Seriously, provide me with a link as I am not currently researching stuff

Not really. Have you been drunk? Have you been stoned? When you have been let me know. When you are forgeted up enough to fall down on your face it seems to me you are relaxed enough to stop steering. Being stoned relaxes you in a light way compared to being stuff faced drunk, which is when you cant handle stuff.

Why are you trying to convince it should be legalized? The post you quoted has me saying it should be legalized. Did you read it, or did you just assume I said it should be legal?

I'd rather take cited sources, research and examples over a potheads bias experience.

Usually when a person is high their pupils are dialated.

It would be fairly easy to detect if someone is high, you would smell marijuana from 10 feet away and you would tell by their movements.

Do you necessarily have to be stoned to know the affects of a substance? No.
I do agree that marijuana would cause most likely the same reaction as alcohol possibly, slurred vision etc, but the same idiots who drink and drive would smoke and drive as well. We cannot simply stop them.

Who exactly were you replying to and what was the point of that?

I was responding to you, Nobot. That's why I quoted you. You quoted my post that was in support of legalization, and said why it should be legalized.

This has nothing to do with coal. I'm not saying my idea is any better for the environment, because, no one is going to smoke enough to affect the environment. They can affect people within 25 feet of them, though.

Because when you blow out a cloud of smoke it travels 25 feet horizontally right? Hot air rises. In order for second hand smoke to be considered you would have to be within 5 feet of another persons face, and blow it directly at them. Ever heard of a shotgun?

Jesus.

It really depends on the person. I don't see driving as a stressful task but that's mainly because I have been taught to drive since the age of 14. I am 19 now. Im not saying I am a perfect driver, but I have driven high and sober. Never been pulled over high while I was driving. Passed many cops while in that situation...but they must have thought I was doing pretty good or else I would have been thrown in jail? That or they just didn't give a forget...but it's their duty to, is it not?
