The goal and function of the Factions plugin is to allow players to take care of anti-griefing themselves by protecting claimed chunks from griefing.

Allowing players to use TNT cannons to circumvent block protection undermines the whole purpose of the plugin.

the goal and function of the factions plugin is to create factions and experience pvp between them, if it was solely an anti-griefing plugin there wouldnt be power or be called factions, tnt cannons are just fine because without, you could just build a big dirt house with a door you have to break open and enemy factions couldn't touch you

The goal of the factions plugin is to allow players to be able to take care of anti-griefing themselves. It says so right on the plugin's website:

and "taking care of anti griefing yourself" means that its your responsibility to stop people from shooting TNT at your base, you can either let the cannon go and wreck your stuff, or go over there and dismantle it
