meh, i just use everything at my disposal  :cookieMonster:

So tell me, what do you do in this mod? What are the basics of the story?
its HL1. but looks and plays better.
edit: forget I just realized i double posted. whoops lol.

it's literally half-life 1

only better

Anyone know how to install BMS properly? I placed it in the Sourcemods file and tried to extract it, yet it keeps saying it's empty and/or unable to extract. I've already redownloaded a couple of times as well :/

Inquiry: I actually missed out entirely on HL1. Didn't hear anything about it during it's time, only found out about it after HL2, getting into that. No one really talked about HL1 when I was brought to HL2, so I never thought of it. Would it be better to play through HL1 before playing Black Mesa or...?

HL1 Wouldn't bring you really any nostalgia. Go ahead play Black Mesa. It won't give you the same experience it did for us, so you might want to play the better looking version of it for maximum-climax.

I HAVE DISCOVERED A MAJOR PLOT HOLE IN THE GAME.  THE COMPUTERS ARE RUNNING WINDOWS XP BUT HAVE A WINDOWS 95/98 BLUE SCREEN.  I DEMAND A PATCH. *snort*

But really, this game is really impressive.  The only real issue is the slight lack of optimization and the loading screens.

I HAVE DISCOVERED A MAJOR PLOT HOLE IN THE GAME.  THE COMPUTERS ARE RUNNING WINDOWS XP BUT HAVE A WINDOWS 95/98 BLUE SCREEN, AND THE GAME IS SET IN 1998, LONG BEFORE XP'S RELEASE.  I DEMAND A PATCH. *snort*

1998?????
Half Life was set in 200#

oh good, so it's not my computer that's responsible for the long loading screens

THE GAME IS SET IN 1998

false

Ah, you're right, I think I was going off of that one timeline from game informer a while back.

Oh yeah, i did see G-Man on the train ride, forgot to mention, i just didn't notice him right away because the train didn't stop when it got to the G-Man's, it just kept going

I love how people explode when you shoot them with the mounted .50 calibers.

I have a few people subscribed on YouTube I watch a few videos of and forget. I know this one guy set out a stuffton of Half-Life videos showing off special coding in the games no one really thinks about but which is interesting. He put out a video yesterday, turns out he submitted a texture for Black Mesa Source in 2006, it won first place in some contest, but it isn't in the actual game. Anyone else want to try contacting the developers of Black Mesa and ask them why it isn't there?

Jesus the weapon balancing was seriously changed.
The Mp5 becomes more useful as a gun because it fires constant 3 round bursts and thus gets a higher firing rate. However the magazine size was reduced to 30 though and you only get 4 full mags for it.
The crossbow feels more useful now and it got a new fancy scope.
Oh and the Tau cannon ...
Well for me that weapon feels like it's worse than in HL1.
The firing rate when using charged shots is painfully slow and the primary fire seems to do very low damage.
I don't know why the would make it worse than in the original game.

Mostly because Black mesa is seriously unforgiving when fighting against the loving Soldiers.
I had to redo the final part of the mission "Questionable Ethics" like 20 times because the attacking marines kept killing me. I had 100 health and 100 armor and they shredded me to pieces in a few seconds with the goddamn Mp5.
The difficulty setting was on "normal" by the way. I finally somehow managed to do it by shooting most of those forgeters with the crossbow.
Now I am at scene of the next mission where you have to shoot down a loving Apache with the Tau cannon.

Magnum = OHKO to Soldiers and Vorts :)

The turrets seem stronger or harder to take care of than in Half Life, or maybe i'm exaggerating what's actually going on due to how the screen flashes and stuff while being hit...
