Author Topic: 3rd person aiming  (Read 2101 times)

I have been thinking about this for a while.
Many times i had hit tab in the middle of a gun fight and did not know where i was firing

Here's my idea;

So whenever you hit tab you still see your aiming/hit marker or whatever

theirs not alot to say about this but can someone please make this client mod?

So basically take the skill out of shooting from the hip?

How do you even hit tab during a fight?  Are you jamming the keys with a hammer stroke?  Just let your fingers rest on the keys, and press down gently when they are needed.

preferably something like SMOD where you can see the angle and position, and the crosshair is actually ON the target instead of pointing in a direction.

implying it'd be any easier than shooting from first person

A > TAB
it's like a 1 second stroke

rebind "Toggle Third/First Person"

don't you mean shooting from the head
third person is not located at your hip

this can only be made server sided with a laser pointer type of thing
if you fail at fighting in 3rd person, don't do it

no

it'd be cool if there was a crosshair at least

Can't have a crosshair, but I forget why.

I'm fairly certain this can be done with a playertype, but I don't really know. But you can't have the crosshairs in third person mode, so the third person would be like on Strato's old Spitfire.

Maybe you could kind of switch the third person and first person views. So you'd have no crosshairs in first person, but you would in third.

I know I'm wording this very poorly, but I think it is possible. I guess that would also solve the problem of people wanting a mod to have no crosshairs.

what if you made it so it centerprints a crosshair icon

The "aimer" you are referring to is called a crosshair.
(Don't bug me for saying this, I wanted to make a quick post and not read the whole topic)

But anyways, yea, good idea.

no
yes
this can't be done with a simple crosshair put over the screen like in first person

The issue becomes that the location of the crosshair cannot always correspond to the location of the target.

not a good idea, any self respecting Dm would get first person player type.
