Author Topic: Checking if shaders are enabled?  (Read 783 times)

I was thinking of hosting a kind of "manhunt" in which the players hide in the shadows and someone else is hunting them.

The only problem is that some people don't have shadows and therefore would have a massive advantage. Is it possible to check if they have their shaders set to something below low, and kick them, without a continuous loop?

This should be added, and it should be possible.

bad idea

because people without shaders are people too

(forget you intel)

That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
You will have at least 3 drama topics and 60% of users can't join your server.

i feel that something like shadows would be client sided

doing a darkness based manhunt in fullbright is also a really bad idea

it would display a message saying something like:
You are not running your shaders on the required setting to play on this server.

if people get angry over that, they can go buy a new card

and 60% of users can't join your server.
more and more people will be able to in future updates.

what if they don't have shaders enabled, they get to play the game with a constant 'whiteout' over their screen. Black, with low transparency giving them disadvantage compared to shader users.

It'd take up unnecessary space on the server.
