Author Topic: so valve is charging 100 bucks to put a game on greenlight  (Read 3336 times)

Good, this is a genius way of keeping out illegitimate submissions. The people who are whining that it's "too much" are stupid and have no concept of money. If you can't get 10 supporters of your game to shell out $10 each, it's obvious nobody will want to buy it.

if you can't raise the $100 to get on Greenlight, it's unlikely you have the ability to support your game after launch on Steam.

All of my agree. A successful developer would also not use money out of their own pocket for this, they should of course ask for donations with benefits of special stuff in their game.

Now all Greenlight needs is a "sort by votes" option so I can look at the games that people actually want and nothing else

The currency is irrelevant anyways since Steam doesn't use conversion rates. For them 1 USD = 1 EUR = 1 RUB.
= 100 yen = all hell will break loose

and steam contradicts its own "open for any and all developers!" line
they could do a weekly moderation to purge any dead leaves off the game pool but charging motherloving $100 why the hell
>weekly

illegitimate submissions were uploaded on a daily basis.  it would be time wasting for "moderation" aka one guy probably clicking yay/nay on everything.

seriously, just because you guys can barely afford $50 games on Steam doesn't mean indie developers can't.  assuming they're someone whose capable of actually staying alive or just actually dedicated to getting the chance for their game to go somewhere, then it's nothing really.

I wonder if big publishers have to pay Valve to put stuff on steam. Because if I find out that they don't and Indie devs do then that's forgeted up. Also like I said earlier if it's to stop scams being uploaded then why do they have all the pay2win games like APB, Combat Arms, Blacklight ,War inc., and fallen earth?

I still want Pepsi to change Mountain Dew to Riddler did nothing wrong.

Very reasonable price. To get an indie game into the Wii Shop channel it costs $51000 every 5 years.

If you can manage that price, you probably aren't making Indie games.
