How can I make my server less boring, yet still have players?

This is slightly off-topic but I just wanted to rant about it.

I had my family RP up and there was one other person on it. I was afk, and then I thought I wanted to shut down. So I said I would shut down, and the other person screamed "NO DONT" like usual. Now normally, when people get mad at me for wanting to shut down, there's a lot of people. But there was literally JUST me and them, which I said. They proceeded to say "IDC" to every point I made. Eventually I just said "SHUT UP OR I'LL BAN YOU" essentially and shut down.

That's the bad thing about family RPs, they attract a LOT of idiots.

If they don't like that you want to change something on your server, then stop hosting, because there's nothing to do.

Most people (besides people who go on RP servers) like stuff that people don't do alot that is challenging and fun. Challenges, death runs, death races, throwmod, and most RPG servers get alot of players every single time. Especially challenges and death runs. If you do one of those, people will come to your server and stay if it is well made.

If the final outcome was going to be shutting down anyway, why'd you bother to argue. On no server do the players truly have a say in when the  server ends, only the host. Stop asking if you can shut it down and instead just shut down.

i've tried making challenges and stuff before but they always wind up being awful and/or WAY too easy because i never know what to put in them

Host a dedicated server and just leave if you get bored. That way you won't feel obligated to stay.

Host a non dedicated server, the. Start another blockland session and go play on a different server.

If you don't want to do either, then I'd say get outta the Family RP business, because it only attracts people who scream at you when you say your are shutting the server down.

Just host a free build, if you don't want a gamemode based server, because it sounds like that's what you like.

Either that, or install a strict communism government in your server, yelling at the noobs when they ask for stuff.  I've always wanted to do this, but never wanted to host a family RP server.
