conan and red having these big in-depth discussions makes me feel like i'm in some sort of strategic room in a movie and i'm one of the people off to the side who kind of just nods their head

I get that feeling to :c

I don't think a strategist would go "we can't die anyways we're plot devices let's do it."

i'm not saying they're strategists (okay maybe red), i'm just saying it gives me that feeling

well have YOU ever flown a spaceship??

I didn't mean anything bad by this by the way.

hey guys

there's a game where it simulates a spaceship bridge

and its sorta an RP except that there's no RP aspect as you are really trying to survive and command your ship like a pro

its called Artemis

just for those who didn't know

then it sounded really loving awesome

exactly, i'm hoping to organize a group at my school to play this thing

its so realistic its realistic
all that commander jargon actually comes into use ("TURN STARBOARD 80 DEGREES" "DIVERT POWER TO FORWARD SHIELDS")

check out a game called Universal Combat

learning curve is like ^^^^^^^^^^^^ but its amazing and very in-depth
you can command a spacecraft, be a footsoldier, a ground vehicle operator, a in-atmosphere fighting aircraft, a space fighter aircraft, and some other stuff. spacecraft commanding is great, you can order entire fleets, and the in-depthness of the ship controls is awesome.

there are like 100 different things you can control, its pretty much everything Artemis is, but better and free. seriously, check it out its really fun. was made back in like 2001 i think. all realtime too.

i'd probably end up killing everyone though because i suck at anything strategy

im saying our two ships distract them, not go head on with them. as in pretty much do exactly what your saying we do, we can have them split up and they can just lead the iconians through the asteroid field. the iconians wont be stupid enough to keep sending ONE ship after three enemy ships, we would get wrecked. not to mention that gives them MORE time to call in more ships, which is bad.

at the very least im guessing we can at least wreck one mining station, and then get to the other one and do a bit of damage before we encounter another iconian ship.

You inform the other ships to go out as a diversion while you ransack the station. It seems to work, as the three ships forming the spearhead(and the damaged ship that joined up with them) change course. The two patrols trailing them don't seem to change direction.

Once you arrive you destroy the station. Let's say you finally hit the fuel storage area and the whole thing explodes.

lol

ok join the other two ships and help them out. they probably are in the midst of combat right now.

Flank them though.

Try to call in more reinforcements first?  Completely overwhelm them.
