Author Topic: dont ever get virgin media broadband... (UK)  (Read 1205 times)

the service is absolutely not worth your money, or patience in my case.

so heres the story about

by munkeycheez

summer 2010, we get rid of BT for some reason to get Virgin Media with the catch up tv crap.
nice and fast at first, this lasted for a couple of months... but that doesn't matter

... until the couple of months passed;

internet kept on dropping out, speed was lowered, etc.

we reported this "fault" to them, so they "mended" it... then it happened again, and again... so eventually virgin gave us a "super hub" to make us shut up, works for a while all fast like it should...

then it happens again, but not as frequent.

so, we then moved house, to where i am typing now.
internet was behaving well, until march, it's been an starfish.
several calls to them later (all ending with "it'll be fixed on -date here-"), and on the day, the fault happens again...

several engineers round ours later, they put this thing into the router...

still problems...

phoning them up again... given the answer "there is a major fault in the area.."

"god dammit, how long will this go on?" i thought to myself.

we will never know...

tl;dr virgin media dont know stuff about making their broadband enjoyable

also OP is looking for better internet in UK, pls halp k

Nice post, I've had Virgin Media broadband for 8 years with no service problems. In those 8 years, I've been upgraded from 1Mb to 2Mb to 10Mb to 20Mb to 30Mb without paying a penny more, good service if you ask me!

that image is going to give me nightmares

Only heard good things about Virgin Media Broadband.

If you wanna change, go for o2 broadband.

you have been blessed by the lord of internets

Virgin is run by virgins.

Comcast forever.
i heard comcast bailed out of that anti piracy warning stuff on the last minute.

but only a select few of us know about how they treat their customer service.

Virgin media sounds like a research channel

Virgin media sounds like a research channel
Virgin is a monopoly that's dedicated to making enjoyable stuff.

Virgin america is an airline, and virgin probably owns more stuff.

Virgin media sounds like a research channel
nope
but it's tv service offers research, lol

I used to have BT, but now I use Plusnet.

I have had Virgin's 50 meg package for quite a while now and we're getting a free upgrade to 100 meg fibre-optic later this year, never had any problems with the speed or reliability of the connection.
Seems you're just unlucky

probably just
"...a major fault in the area.."

are there other people in your neighborhood that complain?
