Author Topic: If Mass <-> Energy was Feasible  (Read 2570 times)

Mass and energy are the same thing. Just mass is extremely condensed.
Nope.

It's about how the world would fall apart if it did happen. Figuratively (economy) and literally (war).
pray tell.

Nope.
hate to break it to you
but they are
just in different forms
(according to einstein)

Nope.

You can transform mass into energy (very inefficiently), but that doesn't mean they're just different forms. Mass =/= Energy.

There is more than one form of energy, most of which are beyond impossible to be converted from "mass."

And to say mass is condensed energy is pretty off, because of what's above.
There's potenial, kinetic, nuclear, etc. Most of which is non-convertible.

What I think he means is matter.

My Chemistry textbook is stoopid then
It's like "lulz mass is just lots ov energiez lololol"

Adding and subtracting subatomic particles to change elements is easier said than done, then you'd have to rearrange those atoms in the right way to acquire what you seek.

If Mass <-> Energy was Feasible, we would basically take a bunch of a material and turn it into energy. We would use said energy to fly somewhere in the universe. Then we would take some planet or asteroid and consume it. We would then use that to repeat this process and export to earth.

Magic

or would be, except this technology would cause World War 7 where the entire world blows itself to smithereens and all that's left is the core or something

Whichever country figured it out first would just be able to turn nukes into energy for their own use. Eventually, people would realize that humanity should unite.

You can in fact destroy matter and create energy, but you have to have something dense like uranium for it to work, not trash and water.

I meant if we found a way to disintegrate atoms into energy of ANY element.

And Vice Versa

Oh yeah, and that. Personally I think rebuilding atoms would be harder than energificating them.

I'm sure you could be able to compress it, take the energy and add a single atom to the center of it. This will make the energy act like a stem cell, copying the base atom.

You can in fact destroy matter and create energy

Not true at all.
