No More Room in Hell is pretty fun, it's free but you have to download it (it's a mod for HL2, so make sure you have that, too.)

You don't need HL2. Just download No More Room In Hell and install it then launch it in Steam. Steam will download SDK '07 if you don't already have it and then you can go off an play all you'd like.
