How about something like this:
It would be some type of zombie survival were everything is random (spawn, item locations. etc.) at the beginning of each round, and people have to survive 3 days until the helicopter arrives (arrival point would be random also). There could be random events that could happen throughout those 3 days. If you die you cannot respawn and have to wait until the round ends. Another thing would be the days are like an hour long each (or shorter in case that's too long). There would be no late spawn (this also means if you died you couldn't rejoin and respawn) but there could be like a waiting box so that close to the end of the game you could join so that you can get in the minigame when it restarts. People would also have around 5-10 minutes to join the game when it resets before you get put in the waiting box. (There could also be cameras placed around the map so people can spectate or have some type of spectating team).

Also, on a slightly unrelated note, please set the respawn time as low as possible; waiting to respawn is annoying as hell.
