This is just a minor fault, most corn plants have the actual corn veggie about 1/2 to 3/4 ways up the plant, where a leaf and the stalk meet.
At the top of a "mature" corn plant, is this grain like thingy which somehow helps with reproduction I guess.
If real corn was like your model, the plant would bend over because of the weight and die.
