Author Topic: wtf people say pop not soda here  (Read 3538 times)

People call it pop here but I think soda sounds better

Iowa says Pop.

Here.

Westcoast cigarette here. I say soda all the time. Also who the hell says "I'm thirsty, I'm going to get a coke(Pesi)." Or "I'm thirsty, I'm going to drink a coke(Sprite)."?

Right by St. Louis for me, I say Soda and I know a few people who say pop and it doesn't bug me.

but people in egypt call every fizzy drink "pepsi"

EXPLAIN THAT HM
Bitch I'm a egyptian and I say soda.

I'm stranded here in the Midwest and I say "soda".
Anyone who says "pop" is tolerable at best, and anybody who says "soda pop" deserves a frying pan to the jaw.
Anyone who uses "Coke" as a generic term for a carbonated beverage deserves life imprisonment.
I don't even know why it matters to me, I don't drink it anyway.

Georgia represent.
I say whatever the name of the drink is; 'coke' seems like a generic and silly term to me. Why not specify?

Weird. I've never known anyone to say "soda" or "pop" here. Sounds really awkward. If somebody wants something they ask by product name.

"I'm gonna get a Coke"

"I'm gonna get a Fanta"

"I fancy a Sprite."

I guess if ever somebody might say "its a soda". I'd probably just say "its a carbonated drink" but there you go lol.

Cyanated Drinks

The future in homicide!

generally I call things what they are
if it's like some offbrand coke, I'll still say coke
same for sprite and everything

They've turned a beer into a gas vapor yes. You can inhale it. Nobody knows of the health effects if any lol.

In Hooshertown Missouri we say Sodie

I do this and everyone I know generally asks by brand name.
"I'm gonna get a Coke", "I want a 7Up", "Do you want a Lilt?"

I wouldn't really call fizzy drinks Sodas. I'd call drinks like Pepsi and Coke 'Cola', and otherwise I'd refer to all similar drinks as "Soft Drinks" or "Fizzy drinks".

That's Michigan for ya, they say "Pop" which makes them sound really stupid.

Plus, Michigan's colors.

suck

in indiana they say "coke" instead of soda for some reason, no matter what type of soda it is.

This is true
