Author Topic: Request: Upvote topics in Suggestions and Requests board.  (Read 2151 times)

If you're collecting session IDs you will most likely be banned.

Really? How are you going to do something like that?
i don't know that's why i'm asking

Attitudes from comments on topics such as what Kalphiter said recently is exactly why I don't think there should be a downvote option.

If people want a feature, no matter how pointless it may seem to others, some people might find it as a useful tool that will help people locate topics that are worth their time to browse.

The moral of it all:  If you don't like it, don't hit like.

(Also, note that everyone should be able to vote ONLY ONCE)

Love how you think I'm totally against the feature. I simple stated the terrible approach (and most approaches at this will be terrible, excluding forum modification) Lugnut was taking and all of a sudden you use it to push the idea in this thread.

I think no one should be able to see the votes except badspot.

This is what kalphiter was saying.
I think no one should be able to see the votes except badspot.
This makes the mod 100% useless.

server sided code done
unsecure, but done

working on client response

PS: I wanted to learn how use sql and this was a good way

Will this be compatible with Google Chrome?

Will this be compatible with Google Chrome?
i would hope so
i'm making it in chrome

system is fully functional

except it's also 100% vulnerable to sql injection
(kinda funny idea: people hiring "hackers" to make their topics have stupidly high amounts of upvotes)

so until i fix that i'm not releasing

that shouldn't take long

done.

what do i release? the client side? the client+server?

i have no authentication measures. could the smarter people suggest some? i could make a whole signup thing, but that feels like it should be unnecessary.

i don't want to release the client until i have some kind of authentication, as the client contains the relevant urls to flood the forget out of the poor system.

I think no one should be able to see the votes except badspot.
Compare the amount of suggestion topics that Badspot has fulfilled, then compare that to the amount of suggestion topics the community has fulfilled.
Then tell me why you still think that.

Attitudes from comments on topics such as what Kalphiter said recently
lol.
It does need a way to prevent the board from being filled with impossible requests that people think their refusal to give up on will magically make it possible:
And allow the OP to designate the suggestion as fulfilled or dismissed (or if enough people of the community to vote for it)

someone should make RTF (return to forums)

like rtb but it helps you sort the stuff from the not-so-stuffty-stuff

like with tags

but moderated by people
like the creator of the tool

wouldn't be too hard
still need a way to authenticate users
and a flood filter. i just gave glass's trench wars about 12 upvotes in about 2 seconds thanks to my middle-click button... and this topic 42. i don't even wanna know what's possible with scripts

Okay, since it appears that you are going all out, are you going to allow likes for normal comments?

Okay, since it appears that you are going all out, are you going to allow likes for normal comments?
wouldn't that be hard to do?

Okay, since it appears that you are going all out, are you going to allow likes for normal comments?
that would require a rather large change

and no, i am not going all out, i am merely getting the basics

RTF (Return to Forums) sounds like a huge title for a tiny feature if you ask me though.  Nevertheless, I like it.
