Wait, an A-10, dog fighting?

what

"Two Foxbats remaining!"
I tear through one with my machine gun.
Then I hear several pings and one of my engines goes dead.
"forget!"
I jam the throttle to minimum.
He flies past me.
"Fox one!"
I fire a SAAM, annihilating him.
"Foxbats are down, returning to base."

do you realize how deadly a 30mm round is
it's the size of a loving golf ball except pounted and explosive/incinediary

Claire does her best to crashland nicely, and does. Her plane is totaled though. She runs for cover as a work crew clears the debris. She is then evaluated in the medbay and is just bruised up (B-)    )    so she goes into the barracks

I somehow manage to land despite the damage. Then, my rear right landing gear snaps.
"Oh stuff!"
My plane's wings scrape against the ground, sending sparks everywhere, before coming to a halt.
I open the roosterpit and walk out, dazed.

The A-10 is a terrible fighter

The A-10 is a terrible fighter
I know
But they pulled in front of them
The pilot makes the plane, not the other way round.

It's really more like they seized an opportunity.

Once again, I line the airplane up with the runway, "Phoenix 1-1 cleared to land []." Wobbling the stick in one hand, I put the gear lever down, feeling an unordinary bump when the gear locks. I manage to bring the airplane down to the runway. When my gear hits the ground, the left main collapses, sending me sliding down the runway, sideways. Once I come to a halt in the grass, I flip the canopy's switch, but it's jammed. I let out a large sigh, quickly shut the other engine off, and wait for someone to dig me out of the tub.

I am in sight of the runway when two more whizz by. I reach for my mic button when I see Hawk fly by to intercept. She makes quick work of the first jet, sending a missile into the first jet's engine. I watch as the other jet pulls behind her and manages to fire a missile into her left wing.

"Mayday, mayday.."

I pull my throttle to full, engaging the other jet. It circles the base, waiting for another target to take off when I come at it head on and fire my cannon once more. The nose of the aircraft is obliterated as the aircraft explodes in a fireball. I dive to avoid the wreckage as it comes down.

I turn toward the runway and find Hawk's aircraft to the right of it, with her being ushered away by ground crew. Allowing the crews to clear the runway, I managed to slow down my aircraft enough to make a short landing. I quickly taxi into the hangar and jump out of the roosterpit, hurting my ankle. From across the hangar, the crew chief looks at me, and then to the aircraft and nods before directing some mechanics to work on my engine.

After leaving the hangar, I limp to the medbay for my ankle.

"Is it fixable?"
"Affirmative. We'll need to order some spare parts though, and the right kinds of paint and such. Take about a month."
