- - you have your own checking account and have never overdrawn - - you have always liked math - - you have made good grades in math - - you are meticulous in keeping records - - you have served in some other student position - - you are enthusiastic about participating in student government and have the time to give this post the attention it
deserves.
Then, at the end, say "YES, SHOW ME THE MONEY! VOTE FOR (YOUR NAME.)
While you are saying this, have your helpers throw candy gold coins throughout the audience. (If you have a very large auditorium, you could have several friends stationed at various locations with a few "gold" coins.
Keep your speech short and snappy. Look your fellow students in the eyes and speak up so they can hear you. Practice, practice, practice your speech! Tell it to your cat, tell it to your mother, tell it to your father, tell it to anyone or anything willing to listen. Then, when you get up in front you will know exactly what you are going to say. Have one practice with your friends who will hold the banner and throw the coins so you and they can get a feel for where they need to stand and what they need to do.
One other thing - you might want to run off copies of your name via computer on gold sheets and attach your name to each "gold" coin. The more familiar the students are with your name, the more likely they are to vote for you; political candidates call this "name recognition."
