Author Topic: Where do yall get your motivation?  (Read 1292 times)

It seems to me people pull motivation out of thin air. Where the heck do you talented guys get motivation from? I have plenty of creativity and skills to make something good. Drawing/building on Blockland. But once I start I lose all motivation within at least 10 minutes of starting.

This bothers the heck out of me. ;__; I could make something really fantastic if I had motivation for more than like 10 minutes.

i get motivated by thinking I will be da best around later.

Same boat as Dexxter here

only its with ingame building, I can do bricks and models just fine

nah it'd be getting up in the morning and going to the off-topic section to see what dumb thread was made and see people making either funny or dumb or both posts and making me happier therefor giving me motivation the rest of the day.

Well. I get my motivation fired up when I watch movies, play games and stuff.

And this

I think of all the things I can accomplish if I keep going. Plan out the result and visualize it beforehand and keep that mental picture as a go to for motivation. You can do it for any goal!

If you lack the motivation to do things that you can do then you just weren't meant to do them, regardless of how well you are capable of doing them.
Many people are motivated to do things that they are good at, there are also people who are motivated to do things that they aren't very good at, your skill doesn't factor into it if you weren't supposed to do it in the first place.

Yes, I do believe in destiny and fate and all that nonsense

I'm not much of a planner. Almost all the stuff I do every day is what I feel like doing at the time.

When I happen to have motivation to say, build something, I go and start. Then gradually my brain slowly starts to get bored of this and wants to move on to something else.
This happens with a lot more than just building and drawing as well. If I'm trying to look up something to fix a problem I have, trying to rearrange my desk, clean my room, sometimes when I try to go to sleep. (yes I need motivation to sleep) Its like my motivation just gets up and leaves.

When I actually do have that 10 minutes of motivation I actually enjoy what I'm doing.  I love drawing and doodleing. Infact most of the time when doing something I'd suddenly start doodleing weird boxes and swirly shapes.

I also sort of believe in destiny and fate. But with all the options of stuff to do I have not a single one of them gives me motivation for more than 10-16 minutes. Sorry if none of what I just said was relevant to what you said. :/

Going to bed. Hopefully there will be more replies when I wake up.

The screams of virgins being sacrificed to Sithis.

It sounds more like you just lack to attention span and patience to do things than a geniune lack of motivation, to be honest.
You just have to learn to put your mind to something, it takes time to do so but learning to do it allowed me to play games for more than an hour or two at a time before getting bored

Listen to music you like as well, that helps.

This is also true.

I tend to get my ideas and inspiration from going places and seeing things, or even playing games or reading books.

Unfortunately motivation can be harder to come by. I tend to motivate myself through necessity, but with something optional like building in Blockland, I need more, since its not necessary for me to build what I am building. My biggest motivation is generally just wanting to complete my inspiration. But to combat the attention span I generally need some help. Which is where music comes in, but more importantly is a good friend to build along side. If I have a friend with me I am happy to build for ages. Even if they're not helping.
The only problem is my friends who are much more likely to get up and go from boredom, even if they're building alongside someone else. It's really quite annoying. Especially when it turns out that while you've been doing loads of work they've been pratting off elsewhere.
And the moment they leave, I lose all care for the project at that time.
