Author Topic: I don't know if I should take Chinese  (Read 1238 times)

I've been taking Chinese for about 2 weeks and I'm not bad at it but for some reason I dread thinking about class or going to it. It might be because I'm embarassed (pinyin has really weird tones and beginners sound silly) or maybe it's just because I don't like it. I have 3 days left to switch my language, or I'm stuck with it. I think I might do Latin or Wapanese.

Advice?

I find Japanese to be easier, but Chinese is a really useful language to learn, especially in the international business market.
I wanted to take Chinese when I was in community college but the dropped the course the semister before i enrolled (along with arabic which I also wanted) due to lack of funds to support the classes.

I'd say just keep trying.

I suppose. My next class is on Thursday. My brain is being very bipolar about it. I'm probably gonna take the Thursday class then make my final decision. Thanks for the input.

You should totally switch to Latin. Taxonomic classification and a bunch of other sciencey stuff uses Latin for naming.
