It was a rumor that was spread around early on on the forums.

No, that's just a rumor. I don't think if Blockland gets greenlit the adventure mode will be on it though.

all those extra files, how will it update them based on whether someone unlocks it or not?

Also how will the current method of unlocking the adventure mode work on steam?
