the topic blocker script really comes in handy with stuff like this. but yes, they're absolutely pointless, completely stupid spam threads. they shouldn't exist, and they should be bannable. simply ignoring them isn't the solution either. they just uselessly flood the front page of the board.

unless a rule is made against them, there will always be people who keep making those kind of threads and keeping them spamming up the boards. granted, they aren't a serious impediment, but you can also just as easily say that posts which look like this...

...shouldn't be bannable because they can also simply be ignored, because you can just use your scrollbar to skip right past them. or we could do the same when it comes to trolling. the point is, just ignoring every single annoyance when it comes up isn't going to make it go away. it'll always be there, even though it has no reason to. so i don't know about you, but i don't see plugging my ears/covering my eyes or ignoring every single annoyance that comes my way as the solution. some stuff just has to be dealt with.

No, why don't we ban the dumb forgets who participate in the spam topics? They do not have substance. They clutter the board. If there were a stuffton of fake non-steam games cluttering your Steam library, wouldn't you want them removed?

furthermore, it's not really about "no fun allowed". you can have fun topics all you want without making stuff that's outright garbage. come on, stuff like the orca god is hilarious, and that's the kind of stuff that is awesome to have in offtopic. not a bunch of spam threads which are just duplicates of each other with a different picture and a few words changed in a repeatedly copied paragraph. if these kind of topics could simply be ignored, then people like electro and others wouldn't have to be banned.
