when I found out alcohol is twice as potent at 80 proof as it is at 40.1 proof-

my first thought was for myself
my first thought was that I could get a nice buzz from half what I was used too
i danced around in a box

No, I'm well aware of the effects egregious alcohol consumption has on the human body. But then again I'm not an alcoholic and a small 'increase of risk' isn't really anything to worry me. Thanks anyway, though.

Take a look at what you're posting.
Keyword: Larger

Can you please stop combining responsible drinking and irresponsible drinking? it's crippling your argument.
I assumed larger amounts of alcohol related to the amount in which the country drank as a whole, not the individual consumption by person.

lalam stop whining

just cause your mom couldn't handle alcohol doesn't mean nobody can

Haha, this.

Even i can handle a few glasses of fine wines. Let alone a little vodka.

Keyword: SLIGHTLY
Slight != below.  It still implies more alcohol = bad, even if it is "slight"

You say that like it matters!

Lalam, alcohol is a cultural thing. Even if you think you can make is sound bad. No one will give a flying forget.

Religion is a cultural thing.  It is bad, but living under a rock is certainly the way to keep living.

What a pathetic argument.

Ok at this point now you are scraping the barrel.  I feel bad that you had those experiences as a kid but a similar case would be your mother died in a car crash from a drunk driver and you never drive a car in your life because of it.  Things have risks like these, that's why it matters to be responsible.

I don't understand why you have to bring religion into this but hey while we're at it, it might as well be the same thing then.  Lots of people follow it and still practice it, just like lots of people drink alcohol and still enjoy it, both despite their overseen downsides.

Regardless of whatever light you paint alcohol in people are still going to drink it. Chance or risks don't mean much to people. There's a chance I'll die in a car accident every time I take the car out and go to the store. There's a chance I'll be more susceptible to cancer thanks to the hormones I'm going to be taking. There's a chance I'll be mugged or shot and killed whenever I go for a walk because I live in gang territory. Doesn't stop me.

I'm not so afraid of probability that I'll let it inhibit my life choices and experiences, thanks.

Which is an intellectual detriment.  Driving is for transport, alcohol and religion are for comfort and pleasure.  They're both luxuries and are easily avoidable.

It's a life experience that is so minute and so simple that it's unnecessary to take the risk.  You aren't going to try everything just because.  People cut themselves because they enjoy blood -- a pleasure, a luxury.

Well, you can stay in your hamster ball but I'm perfectly happy with my luxuries.
