you are scraping the barrel. I feel bad that you had those experiences as a kid but a similar case would be your mother died in a car crash from a drunk driver and you never drive a car in your life because of it. Things have risks like these, that's why it matters to be
responsible.
I don't understand why you have to bring religion into this but hey while we're at it, it might as well be the same thing then. Lots of people follow it and still practice it, just like lots of people drink alcohol and still enjoy it, both despite their overseen downsides.
