Which is an intellectual detriment.  Driving is for transport, alcohol and religion are for comfort and pleasure.  They're both luxuries and are easily avoidable.

Driving is also for comfort.  You aren't aware of "NASCAR" or even illegal street races, are you?  Even so, the same risk exists regardless if you're driving for transport or for comfort.  At this point I'm starting to think you really are a bubble boy.

It's a form of more sufficient transportation.  To save time, it acts as a luxury, but the overall intent is still active.  Drinking, in no way, acts as a necessary substitute for any action.

It's a life experience that is so minute and so simple that it's unnecessary to take the risk.  You aren't going to try everything just because.  People cut themselves because they enjoy blood -- a pleasure, a luxury.

Mother is schizophrenic and used to be an alcoholic.  When I was much younger, I would usually be able to witness her forgeted up episodes at night, constantly talking to herself, then she explained to me that "there's a doctor inside of me", and in turn, acted as the "doctor" who controlled and was "helping her bones".  She's no longer an alcoholic and her schizophrenia has become very mild, or, rather, hidden.  I feel so absolutely terrible for her -- she's a fantastic person with a seriously forgeted up problem.  During those nights, though, the muggy scent of alcohol was everywhere.  I became disgusted with it, and given the effects, have absolutely no reason to consume the beverage.  It's an INCREDIBLY stupid and unintelligent luxury to drink alcohol; yes, by this, I'm implying you're somewhat intellectually impaired for not having enough self control to stop yourself from drinking it.  Especially if you're aware of its detriments.

Watch the episode of Taboo on alcohol.  If you still drink, you're pathetic.

What harm am I causing?  I never said luxuries were terrible as a whole.  Again, nitpicking to try and justify your horrible argument.   Dorkdotdan presented a plausible and justifiable argument, you're simply making a piss poor attempt to state you're correct.  The argument is about the benefits not outweighing the disadvantages, not the fact that it's a luxury.

the beverage isn't a problem. the problem is the degree of consumption. i'm against alcos because they're losers. people who drink casually and for fun are fine.
