I'm laughing at all the people in here siding with the guy and his email and going "just go for a run lol".  Dusty and others have already done the job of stating why that kind of point doesn't always work for everyone so me repeating them would be really redundant.

arent obesity genetic sometimes or

Yes.  Starve yourself.  Good plan!
Can you not read?
The only conditions where this is not healthy is when the difference is super big.
You don't have to starve yourself. If you work as much as an "average adult" you only need 2000 calories a day to be perfectly fine. If you consume 1900 a day, then you will lose 100 calories in fat a day, only a few grams. You won't even be lacking any food, because your body already has it stored.

2000 is an example based on what all food labels say. I am not saying it is everyone's magic number.

There are skinny in plenty of other advanced countries. Clearly the US is doing something wrong.

Youre drifting too far from the original point. Dont turn this into some sort of country v country argument.

riiiiight america is the only one with a bajillion percent of fat people

There weren't many fat people 200 years ago, so the whole genetics thing is bullstuff in my opinion.

Genetics don't take hundreds of years to be modified.
