Asymmetry? It was in a patch a while back. I think you hold down "A" while you're placing the part. It's been a while so I can't remember.

As for the mech parts, they were in a doctor pepper thing a while ago. For some reason I couldn't get them to work. There's something wrong with my account I think.

this, and i rage-quit because Maxis was forced by EA to remove almost literally TONS of content from Spore.
