Author Topic: Torrenting Speeds  (Read 1006 times)

Let me start with TORRENTING IS NOT ILLEGAL. Torrenting is p2p downloading, or, getting the file from other people instead of a localized server, making downloading much faster. Many open source linux distros or in general very large files are often downloaded via torrent. I got Ubuntu via torrent, along with a few other things. All perfectly legal. Infact I got the torrent files from the websites.

Anyway, I was downloading some open source os anyway, I looked down to see the speed and...

2.15MB/s! Thats the fastest I've ever gotten. I usually get 500KB/s. Anyway I thought it was so loving cool I had to tell the Forums.

Discuss Torrenting Speeds -> DO NOT DISCUSS ANYTHING RELATED TO THE FILES YOU DOWNLOADED. This is against forum rules and can end with you being banned.

Torrent speed is relative to seeders, though. You can't just define a single speed. Might as well list all the research we to- I mean, that's nice.

i had 550 seeders :(

omg ilegal
BAN

is your snake inverted in your eyes cause it looks like it.

I downloaded something the other day and my download speed went down to 500 kb/s when its usually around 3mbs

As Mega said, speed is directly proportional to seeders and inversely proportional to leechers.
With torrents that have 500+ I get at least 1mb speed(internet is stuffty here don't kill me ;-;)
At most times its somewhere from 30-500kb/s.

500 kb/s would make me so happy. I usually get 250-400. ;~;

That's not with torrenting, though. I haven't torrented since Garry's Mod stopped making me download add-ons that way. I dunno what my torrenting speeds would be.

5mb/s torrent download speed

oh yeah

I torrented BitTorrent.

get baned noob
no pls I am only 15 I din't know better

on most trackers, speed is determined on your upload/download ratio. either total (if its a logged in, private site you are part of),
or just the ratio of the specific torrent your downloading. try to keep above 100%

meaning, keep upload on max at all times!

people disable upload thinking they will get more speed. most trackers are not designed to favor this.

also, even though we arent discussing piracy. this is a dangerous line to walk on in this forum.
