You know what'd be cool?

if when your name (your name exactly, can't be a shortened version) is mentioned in ANY thread, it'd send you a message. Whether it be a quote or just saying it

Might not be as useful as it could be if it only notified you for exactly correct spellings of your username. For example, who's actually going to type out the full name of, say, xXxHaLoLoVeR117xXx? It'll be even worse if it's caps-sensitive; I don't think I've even once seen someone's name properly capitalized by someone without (near) perfect spelling and grammar.

It's also the case that people with common names like "Bob" or "Fred" would be unintentionally spammed by notifications about posts which don't actually refer to them.


While it's a good idea in theory, I don't think it can be made to also be a good idea in practice.

Then it would be all too easy to stalk other forum members even more closely than before. What if I put those three names into your list so I could always be wherever anyone is talking about you? (Granted, complaining about forum "stalking" is annoying and pointless, but that never stops anyone.)


Also, typing BBCode is incredibly slow on an iPod.

That only lets you see what they've already replied to. How would it make you feel, for example, if I was always bashing you in every thread your name is mentioned in before you can even get there to defend yourself?

On any of the other forums I traverse I would admit that would never realistically happen. Here, though...
