Seeing as though scientists are generally a more intelligent then most politicians, and less greedy then business men, I say yes.
Agree.

This would be really cool and quite possible good for the world.

I disagree. Skill with computers has nothing to do with running a country.

this isn't really a good idea. the fact we're leaving people in charge that have control over architecture, chemicals, and weapons makes me feel scared. imagine if some crazed-scientist decided to use everyone within a district as guinea pigs.

Religion is excluded from our government anyways, with the exceptions of candidate platforms to get votes. Religion would still be up to the religious institutions like the Vatican.
Not necessarily.  In order for it to work, all inconclusive theories involving the Origin of Life must be excluded.

For instance, if the theory of evolution was officiated by the government, then all religious groups would be furious.
And yes, of course religion would have to be separated, the opposite would have to be true to allow atheists/agnostics, etc., to live comfortably within this system.

What I'm trying to say is that any inconclusive origin theories cannot be stated as fact and serve as a code of how the government is structured because it would exclude a certain group.  Denying all inconclusive theories would help to avoid this problem.

people would just get science degrees and cheat their way to a nice comfy corrupt seat, regardless of how they applied their skills.
people who want to exploit others will find a way in any system.

this would not work at all
people would sell out to private interest Y or Z, and when accused would just be able to say "oh no, i'm the expert in this field! don't question me!"

and what bisjac said too.

why cant we just have a dog be president then everything would be so much better rly
Instead of getting the dog to make decisions, sign things, and conduct long boring speeches he could just smear his stuff on the walls and make love to bitches and call it a day. Just like a real politician!

It's important for the government to be technologically literate
But it's also important to be literate in all sorts of other stuff

That's not how life works.
You can't just have a "degree in science" and be at the top of your field as a result of it.

The only true option is a meritocracy.

I love this thread so much omg

The only true option is a meritocracy.

Excellent point, well then, we'll have to include theocracy in the system. I'm sure there will be a big faith-based opposition to it at first, but if all is successful, it will die down fast.
