IN ONE CORNER: JVS Doors
What are they?
JVS doors are made by Trader (and Kaje I think?)
How they work: When the brick is placed, the brick is replaced with an animated .dts run by events.
Pros
  • They have an animation.
  • One main system add-on, you can make your own doors/windows/etc
  • They have a way of telling if it is able to open (if there is an empty space.)

Cons
  • They are slightly un-realistic to the lego style, but everyone is used to them.
  • They are buggy.

THE YOUNG COMPETITOR: RONTONDO'S .BLB DOORS!
What are they?
Rotondo's .blb doors are currently the default doors of blockland. You can find them in the "Special" tab.
How they work: One door has four .blb files (Blockland brick files).
They are:
door_name_openCW.blb
door_name_openCCW.blb
door_name_closedCW.blb
door_name_closedCCW.blb
When you click a closed door it quickly switches to the open version. Instantly.
Pros
  • They look as if they are LEGO doors.
  • They are 6 bricks tall, more realistic to the height of the player.

Cons
  • They have no opening/closing animation.
  • They can crash servers with relays. (self > door > Toggle)
  • They all make the same CLICK sound. It is the sound of placing a ghost brick.
  • The only brick detection is that you can't place bricks next to the door when it's opened. They clip straight into bricks when opened.

SHOULD ROTONDO ADD MORE? SHOULD JVS BE FIXED?

Add to the pros for default doors: Don't break all the time.

Cons to JVS: Broken and the maker has made no effort to fix them

Also on the default doors:
They have proper collision when opened.
They can STAY opened.

1: Yes
2: JVS can too...

Cons to JVS: Broken and the maker has made no effort to fix them
How are they broken?

How are they broken?

They crash servers more than default doors and they spam the console like a bitch, not to mention they're slow .dts shapes.

Video coming soon showcasing pros/cons
nevermind. too lazy.

Rotondo's all the way
I agree totally. JVS is really broken and the new doors are much simpler yet less buggy.

JVS can cause servers to crash using them and default events.

well, they crash clients, which might result in crashed servers if the client is hosting...
oh hey you can do that with rot's doors too? how nice. all default.

By the way lugnut, this is a joke, right?

It just seems sad to me. I can picture you as a hobo sitting on the street saying "Anyone need torquescript work? I'll do it for emonee!"

Two different doors; two different purposes.

Personally, I prefer Rotondo's - mostly because they aim and match the default style perfectly.

nope, not a joke, and i actually have people coming with serious proposals.
i also work in node.js (not limited by torquescript. external add-ons, anyone?), javascript, html, css, etc
although the last two would probably be just me giving some pointers and stuff.

I'll give you 20 cents if you make an ultimate door mod with no flaws.
EDIT: Make sure you can make your own doors with bricks. And that they have animations.

EDITEDIT: Remake v0002's way of moving/rotating bricks. NOW. TWENTY CENTS.
