Author Topic: Bones may buy a Corvette  (Read 5972 times)

Corvettes are hunks of stuffty american plastic. If you want a "fast" car get something non-domestic.
so a carbon fiber body is plastic..?

the corvette (the Z06 for example) generates 500-600 horsepower. if that's not fast, then nothing is.
plus, name another great sports car that has up to 30mpg and is affordable.

even then, "non-domestic" cars are shipped to the US and put through after-market, making them worse in performance anyway. unless he ordered one straight from the country of origin, which would cost him significantly more if he wants to avoid after-market.

@OP,
yes. I would suggest the C5 if you're looking for something sporty, comfortable, and good on fuel economy.
it's carbon fiber frame and aluminum alloy body make it lightweight and fast, which also explains it's 30mpg; less weight, less work for the engine. oh wait, that's the Z06, sorry.
C5 is a hydroformed frame of metal. it is still considerably light however.

Limit at 17k?

lol, I'd totally buy a Corvette for that money.
The only C5 I found costs 400k NOK (a mere 70k USD)
It looks nice though:

^oh, and that one is used, of course ;)

Why not get a Ford Focus :cookieMonster:

I'm sure you can find a much cheaper, used one on Craigslist
You can find anything on Craigslist, even a hot date.

Craigslist is not available in Norway, afaik.
The problem here is not buying the actual car, but paying all the taxes for importing it.
Take this one for example. The car itself costs "only" 26k USD, but the registration (making it street-legal) costs no less than 44k USD...

I've seen one, you can literally bend (and almost break) the trunk hood because of how flimsy it is.
The old one (one Bones is getting) does that, FYI.

since when does Bones live in Norway?
and corvettes are already street legal in the US, they're american cars.

im confuse

well i didn't say it was rock solid perfect.
it's just not typical plastic. the carbon fiber has a legit reason for being carbon fiber: to save weight, thus increasing acceleration, speed, and fuel economy.

plus it's a sports car, it's not meant to be built like an SUV and take impacts like a tank.

It would be pretty cool if you bought one, Bones, you could be able to see Corvettes be built if you get one.

Military, brug. Steady E3 pay and no bills.

Is this where my tax money is goi- pfffhahahahaa I dont even pay taxes.

You should use some more money to make it look nice, as in new paint job or changing some parts...just, something, as I'm not a real fan of the Corvette design.

Damn, I really wish some GTA car designs were in real life, and not just a bunch of car designs in one that would probably get thrown off the market really fast with probably a bunch of copy right or some other bullstuff...

GTA IV "Coquette" sports car.

Honestly, I think of Corvettes as "I want a cool car but know nothing about cars so forget you I'm buying a Corvette", or for old people that're retired.

You are in the Airforce, thus you must own a Corvette. NASA astronauts had Corvettes too, so go and live the dream already!

That would actually be pretty amusing to see.
Some old fart in his 70s driving around a brand new Z06

You're in the air force Bones? My grandfather was also in the air force.

Bones doesn't live in Norway, I live in Norway. Hence the "I'd totally buy a Corvette for that little money".

Btw. apparently there is no insurence company that would let me drive such a car :C
In other words, in order to get it insured, I'd probably have to pay another 10k a year.
